DAGUPAN LAUNCHES URBAN COMMUNITY GARDEN IN BARANGAYS

UNLISERBISYO

MAYOR Belen Fernandez recently led the Dagupan City government in launching  the Urban Community Garden program in the Barangays Bonuan Boquig, Bonuan Gueset, Lasip Grande, Malued and Mamalingling in support of the food security initiatives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The program was launched initially in the five barangays where community gardens consisting of hydroponics are installed inside greenhouses.

Hydroponics is a technique of growing plants using a water-based mineral nutrient solution rather than soil that can produce greater yield of fruits and vegetables within a smaller space of land. City Agriculture Officer-in-Charge Patrick Dizon said the city will provide trainings on hydroponics and containerized gardening to ensure effective and maximized implementation of the project.  Barangay Captains Joseph Maramba (Bonuan Boquig), Noel Bumanglag (Bonuan Gueset), Armando Capito (Lasip Grande), Filipina delos Santos (Malued), and Calvin Cayabyab (Mamalingling) expressed their gratitude to Mayor Fernandez for awarding the program to their barangays.
