CHILD HEALTH ADVOCATE PROGRAM WITH BARANGAYS AND DEPED
THE Child Health Advocate Program of the city government was relaunched by Mayor Belen Fernandez to promote health services to all families in the city.
The program was launched by Mayor Fernandez during her first term as mayor in 2019 and partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to encourage pupils to tell their teachers how their health and that of their friends in school that may need medical attention. The reports in turn are forwarded to the City Health Office (CHO) who will assess the situations in the barangays, assisted by doctors, barangay nurses and health workers. To further support the program, her Home Visitation program is performed by city hall volunteers to make on-sight assessment of residents needing medical care. These activities are among the mayor’s ‘Alagang Healthy Dagupeño’ programs that include FREE medical services of CHO like X-ray, lab tests, CT-Scan, ECG and ultrasound in Dagupan City Diagnostic Center. MBTF JOINS CELEBRATION OF PRIDE MONTH
MAYOR Belen Fernandez has underscored the significance of just and fair treatment to all people despite their gender preferences during the celebration of Pride Month conducted by officials and employees of the Hall of Justice in Bonuan Gueset on June 13 side by side with their flag-raising ceremony. She highlighted the city government’s program to empower members of the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community in Dagupan with the establishment of the Dagupan Lesbians and Gays Association (DALAGA) led by its president Marvin Sabado, that has been actively participating in various events such as the Bangus Festival’s Gilon, Gilon Street Dancing Competition and other Unliserbisyo activities.
Calling them as active soldiers, Mayor Fernandez also bared her plan to propose a law to give way for the national government policy on protecting the LGBTQIA+ community through the assistance of the judicial department and prosecution services. “This will serve as my legacy to the LGBTQIA+ community to put them into a high level of dignity and respect,” she said.
