THE COLORS AND LIGHTS OF CHRISTMAS
Photos and short story by Art G. Valenzuela
The colors and lights of Christmas are on display in these places where the spirit of “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is very much alive and celebrated. In Lingayen, the capital of the Province of Pangasinan, a choral group entertained the crowd after evening mass at the footsteps of the capitol building.
The whole capitol ground is ablaze with “a million lights” up to the beach promenade. Dagupan City won’t be left behind as it celebrates its annual fiesta and 75th Anniversary as a chartered city. The Quintos Bridge of the bustling city is the original “bridge light canopy” as seen in this album. The town of Binmaley won’t be left behind with its own display of “dazzling” lights and colors wrapped around the “munisipyo” and at the plaza. I can conclude that almost every town and city in the whole Philippines are lighted up with a billion sparkling Christmas lights.
This is the spirit of Christmas this year as we slowly, but surely, crawl out of our cocoon, a restriction which was imposed upon all of us by Covid19. Yes, time for “hamon and chestnuts” but most importantly, it is time to honor the Man who is our object of celebration — Jesus at his birth. “Maligayang Pasko sa Inyong Lahat.”
