‘The Modified Intensive Tilapia Hatchery Project will serve as a vehicle to showcase the technology on Tilapia Broodstock Development and Egg Production for the replication of fish farmers in the locality,” the resolution disclosed.

Hence, it was noted in the resolution that “in pursuance to DA-BFAR’s Tilapia Commodity Program, this project will give potential contributions to secure sustainable supply of fry/ fingerlings and to help the tilapia farmers to achieve “masaganang ani at mataas na kita” program.”

The resolution also stated that the SP recognizes that the project will be realized through the utilization of the existing tilapia hatchery of the province being managed and operated by the Provincial Agriculture Office and the Municipality of San Quintin.

“The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, an agency under the Department of Agriculture, is mandated by law to provide assistance in the management, development, improvement and conservation of fishery and aquatic resources as well as to support supplemental livelihood for fisherfolk,” the resolution said. /Ruby R.
