Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III fetes health workers in the province of Pangasinan for their immeasurable contributions and sacrifices that aided the efforts of the provincial government in battling the COVID-19 as he led the 11th Provincial Health Summit on February 24 at the Sison Auditorium. “Nandito po tayo ngayon upang ipagdiwang na kahit papaano ay unti-unti nating napagtatagumpayan itong kinakaharap nating pandemya.”
This was the core message of Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III as he commended the overall efforts of the health frontliners of the province during the 11th Provincial Health Summit held on February 24 at the Sison Auditorium.
The Provincial Health Summit is an annual activity of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan that recognizes the best practices and contributions of the health frontliners, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his message, Gov. Pogi expressed his gratitude to the healthworkers who have been partners of the provincial government in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Sinubok tayo nitong pandemya at bagamat may mga hindi pinalad, pero natutunan natin na kaya po natin itong pagsubok sa pamamagitan ng ating pagkakaisa at pagmamahal sa kapwa,” Gov. Pogi stated.
The provincial chief executive further exhorted the health frontliners to continue their efforts for the welfare of other Pangasinenses.
The Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) Inter-Local Health Zone bagged the major award Best Performing Inter-Local ILHZ on COVID Response while Urdaneta District Hospital ILHZ and Lingayen District Hospital ILHZ ranked 2nd place and 3rd place, respectively.
The Most Outstanding LGU on COVID Response (Small Population Category) was awarded to Laoac (1st), followed by Basista (2nd) and Burgos (3rd).
The following local government units (LGUs) received the Most Outstanding LGU on COVID Response (Medium Population Category) award: Pozorrubio (1st), Rosales (2nd), and Anda (3rd place).
On the other hand, Bayambang, Malasiqui, and Urdaneta topped the Most Outstanding LGU on COVID Response (Large Category) award.
The PPH ILHZ, simultaneously won another major award – Best Performing LGUs on Disease Surveillance ILHZ Category (2020-2021) while Western Pangasinan District Hospital ILHZ and Lingayen District Hospital ILHZ ranked 2nd place and 3rd place, respectively.

Best Performing LGUs on Non-Communicable Diseases Program (2020) – Malasiqui (1st), Burgos (2nd) at Alcala (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Rabies Control Program (2020) – Burgos (1st), Anda (2nd) at Basista (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Tuberculosis Control Program (2020) – Villasis (1st), Malasiqui (2nd) at Agno(3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Blood Program (2020) – Santa Maria (1st), Calasiao (2nd) at Mangatarem (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Child Health Program (2020) – Burgos (1st), Basista (2nd) at Dasol (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Disease Surveillance LGU Category (2020-2021) – Urdaneta City (1st), Calasiao (2nd) at Basista (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Environmental and Sanitation Program (2020) – Villasis (1st), Laoac (2nd) at Rosales (3rd)
Best Performing LGUs on Maternal Health Program (2020) – Anda (1st), Malasiqui (2nd) at Burgos (3rd)
Board Member Jerome Vic Espino, Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, Provincial Health Officer Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman and Provincial Legal Officer Geraldine U. Baniqued joined Gov. Pogi in leading the program.
Prior to the awarding ceremony, Pag-IBIG Fund – Dagupan Branch Head Edison J.
