Prov’l Gov’t stages 2022 Abig Pangasinan Karaban opening salvo in Urbiztondo

The Provincial Government led by Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III staged the first Abig Pangasinan Karaban for year 2022 in Barangay Pasibi East, Urbiztondo on January 5, bringing the services of various offices and departments closer to Pangasinenses.

“Ang unang Abig Pangasinan ngayong 2022 ay dito sa Urbiztondo,” said Governor Espino in his message.

Governor Espino reminded the townsfolk to remain vigilant amidst the threat of the Omicron variant. The governor also thanked the residents for their cooperation in fighting the pandemic in the province.

“Ang mahalaga dito ay ang purpose natin para sa Bayan ng Urbiztondo, Second District at Probinsya ng Pangasinan. Mag-ingat pa rin tayo palagi dahil may isa pang variant. Hindi pa tapos ang ating problema. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat,” Governor Espino stated.

The Abig Pangasinan is composed of past and newly-launched programs and services of the Provincial Government to alleviate the plights of Pangasinenses affected by the pandemic.

It can be recalled that the Abig Pangasinan Karaban visited the town of Urbiztondo last May 2021 to also bring its services to the residents of Urbiztondo.

“Pangalawa na ito dito sa Urbiztondo. Halos dalawang beses na rin sa lahat ng bayan na bumabalik ang pagbibigay ng serbisyo ng Abig Pangasinan,” Board Member Nestor “Nikiboy” Reyes said.

Urbiztondo Councilor Volter Balolong added, “Nandito tayo upang matanggap natin ang isang napakagandang programa ng ating probinsya. Ito ay second wave na ng Abig Pangasinan. Sana ay hindi kayo magsawa, Governor, dahil pinapangako ng Urbiztondo na pogi pa rin ang Pangasinan.”

One of the major programs under the Abig Pangasinan is the Abig Laman ed Barangay. Formerly dubbed as I Love Pangasinan Kalusugan Karaban, the Abig Laman ed Barangay brings free medical and health services to Pangasinenses.

The Provincial Health Office recorded a total of 584 medical consultations, 237 pedia consultations, 75 x-ray examinations, 160 laboratory test, 100 ECG test, and 15 skin disease consultation during the conduct of Abig Laman in Urbiztondo.

Various medical examinations are administered such as blood sugar test (107), urinalysis (73), blood typing (20), cholesterol (52), HGB/HCT (144), at uric acid (67). Residents also received free medicines and vitamins.

Through the food production support program, the Provincial Government of Pangasinan distributed 1,105 assorted fruit bearing tree seedlings, 100 Papaya seedlings, 50 trays ng farm ready vegetable seedlings, 21 knapsack sprayers, 12 water pumps and 6,000 tilapia fingerlings to farmer and fisherfolk associations in Urbiztondo.

A total of 1,210.5 kilos of plastic wastes were exchanged by residents with P24,143 worth of grocery items and school supplies. This forms part of the Kalinisan Karaban which aims to protect the environment while providing assistance for everyday lives of Pangasinenses.

In addition, the Provincial Government awarded one grass cutter each for Barangay Pasibi East and Pasibi-Bituag Elementary School.

The Provincial Government bought P82,226 worth of products like vegetable and meat from 37 participating local vendors for the Kabuhayan Palengke Karaban. The products are then brought to the 14 government-managed hospitals to be served as meals of patients.

Fifteen members of the vulnerable sector from Urbiztondo received their P400 cash pay-out under the Karagdagang Pangkabuhayan or Cash-for-Work program.

The Veterinary Medical Mission also vaccinated 79 dogs against rabies and dewormed nine animals.

Information desks of the Livelihood Assistance Program assessed a total of 41 individuals and eight associations while the Tulong sa Pagsasanay at Trabaho assessed 43 individuals.

Former Urbiztondo Vice Mayor and Provincial Sports and Development Executive Officer Modesto Operania said that the town of Urbiztondo is fortunate to receive inputs from the Provincial Government.

“Maswerte tayo dahil ang tunay na pagmamahal ng Gobernador ng Pangasinan ay hindi nakakalimot sa mga magsasaka ng Urbiztondo,” said Dir. Operania.

Likewise, Barangay Pasibi East Chairman Norman expressed his appreciation for the Provincial Government and Governor Espino for bringing the Abig Pangasinan in their barangay.

Barangay Captain Tamondong said, “Nandito si Governor Espino na magbibigay ng magandang serbisyo. Salamat sir sa pagdala ng inyong serbisyo.”

Former Urbiztondo Vice Mayor Haidee Soriano-Pacheco reminded Pangasinenses to continue their unity as the province still fight the pandemic.

“Sa probinsya natin, minimal ang cases natin dahil maganda ang management ni Governor Espino kaya makipatulungan tayo sa Provincial Government. Manatili tayong ligtas para sa ating sarili at sa pamilya natin,” said Atty. Pacheco.  /PJES
