Pantal’s Galing Pook win lauded by Dagupan SP
THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod has commended Barangay Pantal for being named one of the 10 outstanding Galing Pook Awardees for 2025, citing its exemplary leadership, governance practices, and service to residents.
The award was conferred on December 3 at Malacañang Palace by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, and Galing Pook Foundation Chair Mel Sarmiento. Barangay Captain Julita Perez received the award on behalf of the barangay.
Pantal’s selection as one of only 10 awardees nationwide brings pride to Dagupan and affirms the capacity of barangay leadership to deliver high-impact, community-centered initiatives, the resolution stated.
During the ceremony, President Marcos stressed the value of good governance, saying: “Kapag malinaw ang proseso ng pamahalaan, tumataas ang tiwala ng ating mga kababayan; kapag may pananagutan, tumataas ang respeto ng mamamayan; at tuwing inuuna natin ang kapakanan ng taumbayan, sumusunod ang pag-unlad ng ating inang bayan.”
Resolution No. R-211, Series of 2025, authored by Councilors Michael Fernandez and Marcelino Fernandez, noted that these principles also guide Dagupan’s governance—highlighting clear processes, accountability, unity, and genuine concern for people as key drivers of local progress.
The SP added that Barangay Pantal’s achievement reflects effective local leadership, active community participation, and strong collaboration with the city government. It said the award uplifts Dagupan’s reputation for good governance and inspires other barangays to pursue excellence, innovation, and malasakit-driven service. (Leonardo Micua)
