THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution expressing the body’s sincere condolences to the bereaved family of former Bonuan Gueset Barangay Captain Ricardo Mejia, who joined his Creator on October 10. He was 71.

On motion of Councilors Luis Samson Jr., Marcelino  Fernandez and Jose Netu Tamayo, and duly seconded by Councilor Michael Fernandez, Librada Reyna, Marvin Fabia and Christel Hilary Paras, the resolution conveyed the SP’s sincere condolences to Mejia’s widow, Lourdes Escarlan Mejia and their children, Steve, Solomon, Christina and Sander.

The late Mejia served his constituents from 1994 to 2007 and again from 2010 to 2018, demonstrating unflinching loyalty and devotion to duty worthy of emulation by his peers. He was the longest serving barangay captain of Bonuan Gueset, the biggest barangay not only in Dagupan and Pangasinan, but the whole of Region 1.

The resolution further stated that the demise of former Punong Barangay Mejia will be deeply grieved not only by his immediate family but also by his close friends and those who had come to know him to be a good and faithful public servant.

Mejia was laid to rest on October 18 at Mt. Zion Memorial Park in Bonuan, Dagupan City. (Leonardo Micua)
