Arenas holds simple oathtaking with community

INSTEAD of taking her oath of office in the usual grand ceremony done by most officials, re-elected Third District Rep. Rachel Arenas chose to mark the start of her new term in a simple ceremony with the people of the community in Barangay Ican, Malasiqui,

Administered by Barangay Captain Michael Cardenas on June 28, Arenas said she took her oath as a public declaration of service in the presence of farmers, teachers, youth, parents,  senior citizens, and other residents.

She was joined by her mother,  former Deputy Speaker Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas, Malasiqui Councilor Vincent Arenas, her nephew, and their family friend Councilor Jessica Gueco. Also present were Mayor Alfe Soriano, the vice mayor, and members of the municipal council.

As with her previous oath-taking ceremonies, Arenas deliberately held the event in the barangay where she received the highest percentage of votes in the last election. (Eva Visperas)
