Calasiao community holds parallel feast of Quiapo’s Jesus Nazareno
IN solidarity with the observance of the Feast of the Lord Jesus Nazarene of Quiapo, Manila, some 50 residents of Sitio Baba, Barangay Doyong in Calasiao held a simple religious celebration on January 9.
At exactly five o’clock in the morning, the image of Jesus Nazarene was brought out from the Jesus of Nazareth Chapel and the procession took an hour where it was carried around the barangay.
Barangay Doyong residents have been holding the parallel event for more than two decades.
The procession was followed by a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Segovia, who commended the devotees for keeping the tradition. (Kim Gealogo)
