Bayambang student bags gold in Global IT Challenge
SEVENTEEN-year-old Dallin Jeff Moreno of Bayambang National High School showcased his brilliance in the international stage when he clinched a gold and a silver medal in the Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities on November 6 at the Manila Hotel.
Moreno captured the Best Award (gold) in the eTool Presentation under the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Category and the Excellence Award (silver) in the eTool Spreadsheet competition.
The Grade 12 STEM student representing the host country Philippines, triumphed over 150 participants from 16 countries.
He was one of the top two winners of the National IT Challenge under the Deaf Category last April, which qualified him for the international event.
Mentored by Rafael Carungay, Bayambang NHS SPED Coordinator, the Bayambang NHS Inclusive Education Program also won a bronze medal in last year’s Global IT Challenge held in the United Arab Emirates.
“This accomplishment reflects our dedication to provide learning opportunities to those students with disabilities and diverse learning needs. We will continue our efforts until the full inclusion of learners with disabilities becomes a reality, not just in our school, but to the entire Philippines,” Carungay said. (Kim Gealogo)
