Ednas School students shine in World Scholar’s Cup

FOUR students of Ednas School of San Carlos brought honor to the country when they showcased their intellectual skills as they harvested 5 gold and 6 silver medals during the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round Champions and Tournament of Champions Qualifiers in Seoul, South Korea last August 16-21.

Some 1,500 scholars from 28 participating countries competed in team debates, collaborative writing, problem-solving, and academic challenges demonstrating knowledge and mastery in various subjects.

Among the winning scholars were Raezhan Macaranas (gold, junior individual debate, gold team debate, silver, team bowl, silver, writing), Lorine Tuazon (gold, individual debate, gold, team debate, silver, team bowl), Enriko Macaranas (gold, senior individual debate, silver, team debate, silver special challenge medals), and Patricia Garcia (gold, seniors writing, silver, debate, silver, team debate, silver, champion scholars).

The World Scholar’s Cup aims to bring together young scholars to experience non-traditional academic competitions by sharing insights on global issues.

Mentored by EDNAS teacher Rebecca Decena, the scholars have earned a spot in the Global Round of the competition and qualified in the Tournament of Champions to be held in Yale University in November. (Kim Gealogo)
