Alaminos City earns DENR’s Gawad Kalikha-san Award
THE Alaminos City government won the Gawad Kalikha-san Award in recognition of its efforts in implementing environmental programs and activities on solid waste management during the celebration of the founding anniversary of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region I last July 15 at Paringao in Bauang, La Union.
Rosalie Aruelo, OIC–City ENRO, accompanied by Miguel Sison, City Tourism Officer; and Maribel Oreta, Sanitation Inspector VI, received the plaque of recognition for being one of the “Most Compliant LGUs with the provisions of R.A 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” in entire Region I.
Alaminos City’s solid waste management programs and innovative practices implemented this year are Kalinisan Project – regulating the use of plastic bags and polysterene foam, Usad Barngay, Basura Mo, Pallit Bi Barangay Basura Mo, palit Bigas o School Supplies Project, SCUBAsurero activity, and simultaneous clean-up drives.
