Pocholo Malillin wins for Club Mwah
GOLDEN LEAF PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS
CLUB Mwah, a top entertainment production (ala Las Vegas) show in Metro Manila was named one of the prestigious Golden Leaf Presidential Awards in the Entertainment field during the Philippine Leaf Awards Tertulia at Parangal 2024 held last February 8 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.
Pocholo Malillin, 73, Club Mwah executive chairman and producer and president Cris Nicolas received the award after the Club Mwah Follies performed during the awards night.
“For 25 years, naipaglaban namin and katotohanan at kagandahan ng sining at pagtatanghal,” Malillin said.
Malillin, who hails from Malasiqui town, is known as Club Mwah’s pillar and credited largely for its rise in the entertainment industry. Club Mwah was originally just a gay bar and restaurant.
The Golden Leaf Presidential Award is a tribute to artists “whose dedication has not only enriched the soul of the nation…. and left indelible mark inspiring future generations of artists. ”
The 12 awardees were cited as “living monuments of integrity , creativity and unparalleled excellence in Philippine culture and arts.
Among the awardees were Dr. Juan Anton (Theater), Joey Ayala (Music), Kublia Millan (Arts), Ed Murillo (theater), Nap JamirII (Artist Educator for Film), Tanay Lopez (Cultura Preservatins and Arts Management), Manila Clock Tower Museum (Institutional), Vim Nadera (Performance Art) and Dr. Felipe De Leon Jr. (Cultural Education).
As one netizen who watched a performance at Club Mwah commented, on Facebook, “Beautiful ambiance! Spectacular show! Professionally choreographed! A must-visit Best host in town! Kudos Pocholo! You’re a legend!
