IT was an incredible ride and extraordinary experience.

This was how former Dagupan Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Joshua Bugayong described his five-year stint as head of the organization for young people of Dagupan and ex-officio member of Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Succeeding him as federation president is Bradley Benavides, SK chairman of Caranglaan.  The new officers of the SK federation were sworn in by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Mervin Jovito Samadan of Dagupan City.

He was emotional when he bid goodbye to the SP in his valedictory address last November 14. “It was a great privilege to have been given the opportunity to serve the Sangguniang Panlungsod for an uncharacteristic period of 5 years,” Bugayong said, who aligned himself with the minority bloc.

He was elected SP President of Barangay Herrero-Perez East in 2018. Teary eyed, he said that in all these five years, as a youth representative, it have given him a wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom “that I could not get elsewhere”.

“In all honesty, I can speak from the heart that the young people of Dagupan has been well represented working under two city administrations and two formidable batches of Sanggunian members,” he declared.

Bugayong was elected as federation president during Belen Fernandez’s first stint as mayor of Dagupan, and when Bryan Lim was elected mayor. He remained SK federation president when Mayor Fernandez returned to power in 2022.

“The legacy that I wish to leave behind is the satisfaction that I have ably represented the young people of Dagupan the best way that I know,” he intoned. (Leonardo Micua)
