Banaan Pangasinan Provincial Museum opens on Sep. 11

THE Banaan Pangasinan Provincial Museum in Lingayen town is set to be opened to the public on September 11 after a blessing of the premises and its displayed materials with a Thanksgiving Mass last Friday, August 25 and a formal inauguration on September 8.

Located at the historic Casa Real in Lingayen town, the Banaan Pangasinan Provincial Museum will serve as an archive of diverse collection of events and personalities depicting  Pangasinan’s history, heritage, ethnographic as well as contemporary art.

According to Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) Chief Luisa Elduayan, admission to the museum will be free but subject to confirmation by appointment via online reservation. The online reservation system will be launched on September 4, during the regular Flag Raising Ceremony at the Capitol Grounds.

“In observance of Pangasinan Tourism Month, it will be free but no walk-ins will be allowed,” Elduayan said.

“The system is incorporated in the See Pangasinan website and the link will be promoted thru the PTCAO/See Pangasinan FB page,” she added.

Among the collections that can be viewed in the museum include assortment of artifacts from pre-colonial times such as ancient pottery, tools and ceremonial objects; traditional clothing and accessories, some crafts that will showcase the peculiar identity and customs of local villages; and also some contemporary masterpieces of modern Pangasinan artists.
