Chief PNP Acorda reflects on his journey serving Pangasinan

POLICE General Benjamin Acorda Jr. reflected on his career and journey as chief of police in four towns in Pangasinan before he became the chief of the Philippine National Police.

During the Monday flag raising ceremony of the Lingayen local government, Acorda’s message read by the Deputy Chief for Operations P/Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria, recounted the privilege of having served Pangasinan as police chief of the police stations in the towns of Balungao, Sison, Bolinao and Sual.

“It has been a treasured experience and it truly sharpened my commitment to public service,” he said.

During his stint in Pangasinan, Acorda said that he witnessed first-hand the dedication and bravery displayed by the province’s police officers. “I have seen them go about and beyond their call of duty to ensure the safety and security of our communities.”

He also credited the assistance provided by the local governments to rally the PNP along the way.  “They had contributed much to make our police work more productive and effective,” he said.

He described the invitation to him as guest of honor and speaker in Lingayen under the stewardship of Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil as “a positive signal of fostering mutual interest to better serve our community”. Bataoil was a retired police general and PNP spokesman before entering politics.

Meanwhile, as Chief PNP, Acorda said he has developed a set of focused agenda under his “Serbisyong Nagkaka-isa” that guide the PNP’s path to public service.

“We aim to deliver an honest and aggressive law enforcement operations focused on our integrity, enhancement, information and communication technology and personnel morale and welfare and importantly deepen our engagement to all sectors of the society,” he said.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Lingayen led by Vice Mayor Mac Dexter Malicdem presented a resolution making the PNP Chief as “Adopted Son of Lingayen”.

Dubria also met with Vice Gov. Mark Lambino at the Capitol Building for a courtesy visit. Gov. Ramon Guico III was on leave.
