MEDIA ACCOUNTABILITY, PRESS COUNCIL

MEDIA ACCOUNTABILITY, PRESS COUNCIL – The Philippine Press Institute (PPI), also known as the national association of newspapers, recently conducted an orientation and workshop on “Media Accountability and the Press Council” in Angeles City, Pampanga, a prelude to the creation of Media-Citizen Councils nationwide. The first of a series for Central Luzon was attended by media practitioners, lawyers, academicians, businessmen  police, and representatives from local government units This initiative is being supported by the Dutch Embassy in the Philippines through the Ateneo de Manila University. The PUNCH’s founding editor publisher, Ermin E. Garcia, was one of founding members in 1964.  The PUNCH is a member since 1987, post martial law era. (PPI)
