Quiapo’s Black Nazarene visits Bayambang 

THE image of the Black Nazarene of Quiapo, Manila was welcomed by thousands of Bayambang residents when it was brought to the St. Vincent Ferrer Prayer Park in Bayambang last January 28.

The image of the Black Nazarene was brought to various towns starting early in January this year,  in time for town fiestas in honor of their respective patron saints. In early January, the image was brought to the Saint John the Evangelist Cathedral.

The tour visits of the image of the Black Nazarene was adopted to enable devotees who cannot go to Quiapo, Manila to renew their devotion to the image. (Jhon Caranto)

Bani holds blood-letting on Valentine’s Day

A BLOOD-letting activity will be held in Bani on Valentine’s Day, February 14 and on February 16 to be led by Bani Mayor Facundo Palafox.

The occasion will be conducted by the Municipal Health Office in cooperation with DepEd Pangasinan 1 Schools Division, Region I Medical Center and the Philippine Red Cross Western Pangasinan chapter.

The blood-letting on February 14 will be held at the Dacap Norte National High School, and on February 16, the venue will be at the Bani West Central School.

CDRRMO complex in San Carlos City nearing completion 

CONSTRUCTION of the new City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) complex in San Carlos City is nearing completion.

The multi-purpose typhoon-proof center is being built by the San Carlos City government  in Barangay Agdao, said Jhuliano Nazareno Resuello, secretary to City Mayor Julier Resuello.

He said the facility will have multiple uses— an evacuation, a training center for city rescuers and where many social occasions can be held or as the venue for relief operations after any disaster.

Set to be completed within this year, the facility will be a big boon to San Carlos City residents affected by any calamity. (Jhon Caranto)

School’s health care program in San Nicolas boosted 

THE San Nicolas local government has strengthened the healthcare programs in the  town’s elementary and secondary schools.

This was made possible through the Nurse Deployment Program of the Department of Health-Human Resources for Health, where five former nurses of the municipal government whose contracts already expired were hired as school nurses.

Mayor Alicia Primicias- Enriquez, a doctor of medicine, said with the five school nurses, healthcare program in all public schools in San Nicolas will get a tremendous boost.

Enriquez underscored the importance of  Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Program to ensure that the child will continue to be healthy until his or her adult life through the delivery of vital interventions  in the community, health facility and health systems level. (Joana de Vera)
