200 couples to tie knot in San Carlos
FEBRUARY MASS WEDDING
AROUND 200 couples are set to be civilly married in a rite to be administered by San Carolos City Mayor Julier Resuello on February 28.
Lourdes Llamas, the city’s civil registry officer, said the mass wedding is set on February 28, to highlight the observance of the 33rd Civil Registration Month.
Llamas said more “live-in” couples have expressed desire to join the grand mass wedding but could no longer be accommodated because there were only 200 slots prepared for the event.
However, she said those who could no longer be accommodated can still register for a weekly mass wedding that will be scheduled by the city government.
Meanwhile, Llamas said her office already completed registration of 1,000 delayed registrations of birth this year, most of which were from far-flung barangays in the city.
Registration services are being conducted four times a week by roving teams in remote barangays.
She asked parents to take advantage of the free registration that will legitimize their children’s status and help them in the future when establishing their status.
The delayed registration of birth is made possible by the city government’s memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
As of today, 55 out of 86 barangays in the city have been covered for registration by the city government. (Ahikam Pasion)
