DOST holds training on biodegradable wastes management
THE Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) conducted a virtual technology training on Dual Drum Composter Technology in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) in Barangay Diaz in Bautista town.
The training sought to improve the management of biodegradable wastes to enable trainees to establish an organic fertilizer facility to generate additional income in the community.
DOST-ITDI specialists discussed the technology and the composting process to the participants, including the equipment’s parts and maintenance procedures of the 100-kilogram capacity Dual Drum Composter.
Participants also underwent a hands-on activity for the preparation and initial loading of the start-up mixture for the composter and used shredded agricultural wastes like rice straws and dry corn leaves as the start-up load. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
