THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved a resolution authorizing Governor Amado Espino III to sign partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for the utilization of the latter’s grant for the implementation of the project, “Music Geography of Pangasinan: Folk and Traditional Songs.”

“The project is supported by way of financial assistance in the amount of five hundred thousand pesos (P500,000.00) chargeable to the Program on Advancing the Value of Creative Excellence; Pagkamalikhain.”

It can be recalled that cultural renaissance emerged in Pangasinan in 2007 during the tenure of former Congressman and Governor Amado Espino Jr. which was continued by the present administration under the stewardship of Espino III.

Some of the popular Pangasinan folk and traditional songs include “Malinac Lay Labi,” “Laoas Kan Pinabli,” “Oalay Manoc Con Taraz,” among others. (PIO/RRB)
