BECAUSE of the still lingering pandemic, topped by the threat of a new COVID-19 variant, the celebration of the Dagupan Fiesta this year will be limited to only few activities.

This was bared by officials of the Dagupan City Historical Cultural and Arts Commission (DCHCAC) when they appeared before the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its regular session on December 8.

Alex Duque of the DHCAC said the celebration of the city fiesta already actually started with the holding of the Dagupan City Christmas Trade Fair, which was formerly known as  Baratillo, that will run from December this year to January next year.

Then there is the Dagupan City Photo Contest, the winners of which were announced last December 10.

There will also be mass wedding at the city plaza to start at 9:00 a.m. on December 15 and at 4:00 p.m. that day, an anticipated midnight mass will be held, also at the city plaza.

On December 22, there will be a virtual Dagupan City Employees’ Christmas Party and on December 27, there will be a Thanksgiving Mass at the city plaza, to be followed by the blessing of the rivers at the Dagupan City River Cruise Site in Dawel.

The DCHCAC said on December 30, the city will commemorate the Rizal Day .

The commission told members of the city council that they are still open to suggestions on  any other activities that will be incorporated in the Dagupan City fiesta. (Leonardo Micua)
