Four newsmen are joining the political fray

SECOND District Board Member Nestor Reyes is eyeing the vice gubernatorial seat as running mate of re-electionist Gov. Amado Espino III.

Reyes was a known broadcaster and station manager of DWCM before he entered politics.

Mangaldan Councilor Aldrin Soriano is seeking re-election. He worked as a reporter of then ABS-CBN Dagupan’s TV Patrol .

Soriano substituted for his father, then re-electionist Councilor Alfredo Soriano seeking third term, who died during the campaign due to heat stroke in the 2016 elections.

Among Councilor Aldrin’s significant legislations in Mangaldan are the Environment Code, Market Code and Anti-bullying ordinance.

Kim Bandarlipe, a former reporter of GMA Dagupan’s Balitang Amianan, is trying her luck as municipal councilor of San Fabian.

She said her work as a news reporter helped her have a better grasp about governance and what she can possibly contribute to address concerns of her townmates like on tourism, livelihood and employment, information dissemination to promote transparency.

Tumatakbo ako kasi alam ko na may magagawa ako para sa mga kababayan ko,” she said.

Eduardo Gonzales, publisher of local newspaper Island News, is not giving up on his desire for an elective position as he is again running for the fourth time as board member of Third District.

He said he is not losing hope and one must adopt an attitude “never to give up” and will zero in on agriculture, health and education aspects. (Eva Visperas)
