SP fetes 2 outstanding Dagupeños, confers 2 posthumous citations

VICE Mayor Dean Bryan Kua led the Sanggunian Panglunsod according the formal recognition of two outstanding Dagupenos whose recent accomplishments gave honor and pride to the city, in simple ceremonies on August 10.

With more than 600 entries who competed for the chance to be called the best of the best in the 14th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards that honors excellent stories and photos published or aired, Sunday PUNCH lensman Willie Lomibao, was commended for copping the Tobacco Photo of Year, entitled “Ocean of Gold Leaves”, published in The PUNCH’s January issue this year, depicting a farmer drying tobacco leaves in Alcala, Pangasinan.

P/Brigadier General Harris Fama received the recognition for his recent promotion given his stellar record of solving problems and running after illegal gambling operators, drug personalities and other criminal elements. General Fama, currently an executive officer of the PNP Directorate for Police-Community Relations, is a member of the Class 1990 Philippine National Police Academy and Class 228 of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The citation was received by his children Airis Danielle and Harris Matthew.

The late assistant secretary Rizalino “Bobby” Uson Sr, received the SP’s expression of sympathy for Mr. Uson, whose long and distinguished career spanned for more than 35 years, rising from the ranks in the city government, starting as a clerk-typist in 1977. The citation was received by his wife Lydia and son Rizalino Jr.

In a separate location, Vice Mayor Kua and Councilor Dennis Canto presented a posthumous citation for the late Dr. Perla Santos-Ocampo, National Scientist, in recognition of her pioneering contributions to the government’s public health policy. She is widely renowned as a scientist in the field of pediatrics, as medical educator, leader and mentor, institution-builder and advocate for better health of the Filipino people particularly the children.
