THE relatives, particularly parents and guardians, supporters and friends of our young athletes who passed the qualifying rounds to officially represent their respective regions in the coming Batang Pinoy National Games originally scheduled  on December 4 to 10 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, are unrelenting in bashing the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) officials headed by chairman Noli Eala for its decision to move the dates for the national championship to December 17 to 22.

Below are some of the comments and reactions posted in social media about the sudden change in schedule without any consultation with the parents and guardians of the participating athletes.

“PSC should have pushed for the original schedule. The kids should be spending time with family during the Christmas break, off from any academic and non-academic works. Plus, one could expect higher costs of flight fares and ripple effects on traffic and accommodation from holiday rush. Participants from Visayas/Mindanao risk spending Christmas at the airport once possible delays and overbooking happen”, wrote Jimmy Maniago.

“Try to consider Mindanao and Visayas po, we already bought tickets para di po kami mahirapan. Di po namin pinupulot and pera! This is so totally unfair!!!”, said Noj Myer.

“I think it needs the intervention of our President BBM to allow the original schedule due to the predicament of the Visayas and Mindanao participants,” said Bachao Butchoi.

“OM.. plane tickets and accommodations were already booked & paid.. work leave were also set!!! Plane fare nearing xmas are much too xpensive.. pahirapan po mgpa rebook.. please be considerate po to delegations from Visayas n Mindanao. PLEASEEE STICK TO THE ORIGINAL SCHED,” said Haze Dangaran.

“Oh my! Tikets and hotels na booked na. Peak season na panaman. This isn’t favorable to most Visayas and Mindanao delegates,” said Nunneth Veloso.

“Parang ang kanilang side lang ang kanilang tinatanaw. HINDI ang mga side sa PARENTS na nakapa book na sa mga hotels, pension houses, transient houses besides Dec 22 ay parang last day na sa klase/Christmas party. Mabuti pa HINDI nalang ituloy yan kapag kulang sa preparasyon. Parang may 2nd leg BATANG PINOY NATIONAL FINALS SA TAGUM,” replied Eddie Estoconing to Nunneth Veloso.

“Arnel Toledo and maam Nunneth Veloso.. Dapat maka abot it okay Noli Eala.. Newly appointed pa nmn na commissioner palpak kaagad..”, Said Rae Aquino Asuncion

“Arnel Toledo agree po..they want us to submit early for the requirements and yet they easily decide to change the date. Hoping for the consideration po,” said Nehemia Obias

“Changing dates for BP is not an option that will hinder the academics or school of an athlete students. To the PSC, this is too much. It is for the the benefits of few. Many sufferes. Please consider our(parents) plea on the original sched. Thanks” said Lumen Nualda Nufable.

“Parang “Bgy. at SK Elections”, pinag postpone on reasons ONLY THEY knew. Bulok na ang sistema, mas bulok ang mga andyan,” said Ret.PCol. Pat Piñol, the former Urdaneta City police chief who hails from South Cotabato. He’s an avid admirer of sports especially cycling and still rigorously bike until now in his place.

There are more ugly commentaries from Visayas and Mindanao because they’re the ones most affected. This is a big wakeup call for the newly appointed PSC chair Noli Eala.
