Quo vadiz VP Sara?
By Leonardo Micua
WHAT should happen already happened. It was actually long overdue and obviously happened only after much contemplation at past 2 pm on Wednesday.
The resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte as education secretary and vice chairperson of ELCAC finally happened.
Most everyone felt this was long overdue since her father Digong and siblings Polong and Baste had mounted the Maisug Rally, calling BBM to resign his presidency. And Sara was helpless and could do nothing to contain their big mouths.
This Duterte family does not care if they are accused of having no delicadeza at all for calling BBM to resign knowing that his resignation will make Sara president.
Sara was right in choosing to resign last week than wait for BBM to fire her. Anyway, she is no longer in good terms with First Lady Liza, so there was no reason for her to prolong her agony.
Of course, BBM will not resign. Many believe it will be chaotic in the country if another Duterte will be at the helm.
With Sara out of the cabinet, will she be more visible at the Maisug rallies and finally lead the opposition against the Marcos government?
Of course, as Vice President, she will not remain silent. She will expectedly make the rounds to campaign for her candidates in the 2025 elections preparatory to her bid to succeed as next president.
But without a cabinet portfolio, she might find the going a little rough. And because of accusations that her father danced with the wolf, that is China, during his t erm, Sara is expected to do the same when she gets to Malacanang. With this hanging over her head, challenges and more difficult hurdles will begin hounding her.
With DDS back in an influential position, many also expect her to revive the deadly war on drugs soon as Sara takes on the presidency.
But who will replace Sara as DepEd secretary after July 19? The senators are asking.
There are rumors already swirling that it could be Atty. Leni Robredo because BBM is now acceptable to the Liberal Party because of his tough, uncompromising stand in the West Philippine Sea against the Chinese aggressors and his continuing crackdowns against POGOs, licensed or not.
I also wonder what will happen to Sara Duterte’s followers in Dagupan City now that she will soon be out as DepEd secretary and vice chair of ELCAC?
Methinks they now have lesser chances of upstaging Belen in the 2025 and 2028 polls since the mayor of Dagupan is closely identified with Manang Imee, VP Sara’s ally in her advocacies.
It looks like it’s going to be the end for the seven majority obstructionists in Dagupan without their biggest patron in BBM cabinet.
Anong say nyo?

With the closure of the POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga on Wednesday and of the POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac earlier, the much feared POGO politics was nipped in the bud. Or was it really?
At least, the corrupt politicians looking forward to be bankrolled by POGO money to ensure their election or reelection in the 2025 polls were denied a piggy bank from which they hoped to draw money for their vote-buying spree.
If the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, POGO did not close the POGO criminal outlets, POGO money will likely flow before the 2025 polls to ensure the victory of candidates who promise to protect POGO not only in Central Luzon but in Northern Luzon as well.
There is a report that those who are involved in scamming and illegal gambling, including human trafficking, prostitution, tortures and murders who are still on the run have to split into small groups and are now holed up in apartments and hotels continuing their illegal activities.
Thus, the pressing need for the total ban on POGO operations in the Philippines, licensed or not.
Who knows, there are already POGOs operating in our midst with the support of crooked men and thick-skinned politicians. So, better watch out!
