Starting the fire
By Gonzalo Duque
THE impeachment brouhaha may not result in anything as the group supporting the impeachment process, like Rep-elect Leila de Lima and all the other congressional representatives assigned to prosecute Vice President Sara Duterte are headed to nothingness.
Maybe, they should instead pay attention to the myriad of problems confronting our ordinary citizenship like health, education, joblessness, high prices, crime prevention and solution, especially the drug problem, and many others.
Our people are already suffocating under the administration of PBBM so they may take the law into their own hands and unseat the sitting administration.
Those who are plotting to oust VP Sara Duterte might start the fire to oust PBBM.
Abangan natin ang susunod nakabanata!

I would say, as I write this, the inauguration of Mayor Belen Fernandez and her city council members at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome on June 28 would have gone well as expected.
I was invited to grace the occasion, but I have to send my son Nanoy to represent me because the invitation only invited me and no others.
My only wish is for our new city council, headed by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, to accomplish the programs it has set to do in tandem with Mayor Belen.
I suggest that a multi-lateral conference or meeting be held to highlight all the programs of the mayor for the next three years.
But I am deeply saddened by the non-completion for three years now of the new city hall in front of the original, old one.
When I tried to inquire about the status of the project, my source told me that the contractor or sub-contractor did not finish the first phase of the project on time.
It was reportedly because there was no more money left from the total amount allocated by the past Lim administration for Phase 1 of the project.
Mayor Belen and the council should and must address the nagging problem by conducting an investigation in aid of legislation to ferret out the truth and make the people responsible to account for their misdeeds.

My good friend, Ermin Garcia Jr., as of my last information, is still holed up in the hospital, but he’s well and continues to edit the Sunday Punch even in his hospital bed.
As for me, I just had my shingles vaccine administered to me last Thursday.
I just hope that any future shingles problem will no longer affect me.
In case you didn’t know yet, that shingles shot was designed to prevent small pox. Note that Mpox, or previously called monkey pox, was already detected in some parts of the country, but we are lucky it has not reached Pangasinan yet.
I hope that Ermin will get well soon so we can continue with our weekly podcast every Monday. Our fans are now missing us!
