INC backs entire Unliserbisyo team
By Gonzalo Duque
AS I was writing this column, I heard that the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) just announced their candidates for Dagupan City, including mayor, vice mayor, and down to the last councilor – all from the Unliserbisyo team.
One might ask why a religious group endorsed an entire ticket that includes Manay Gina de Venecia as congresswoman.
It is not farfetched to say that the behavior of the entire LiFe team in the past three years when they were in the majority negated whatever advantages they had with the people of Dagupan.
If we go by the result of the last election, slots 8 to 10 in the council will still be a contest, but I am daring to say that it may be a love set (as in billiards), meaning it will be a 13-0 win in favor of the UnliSerbisyo team of Mayor Belen.
I just want to say here, minus any fanfare, that when we invited Congressman Dante Marcoleta as the guest of honor and speaker during the 54th mid-year graduation exercises of Lyceum Northwestern University in November last year, Mayor Belen welcomed him when his chopper landed at the CSI helipad.
Together with Mayor Belen, we had breakfast at BreadHouse. It was there where I heard Mayor Belen pleading with Congressman Marcoleta to have her entire team endorsed by the INC at that time.
Even before the campaign started, Congressman Marcoleta already confided his support to the UnliSerbisyo team of Mayor Belen.
So, Mayor Belen, you need to make Marcoleta land in the top three in the senatorial race in Dagupan City.

The INC endorsed only eight senatorial candidates, namely: Rodante Marcoleta, Bong Go, Bato de la Rosa, Pia Cayetano, Camille Villar, Imee Marcos and Bam Aquino.
One might be surprised why only eight candidates this time around.
In my previous column, I already predicted that the INC will not go for an entire ticket.
I then wrote that they might endorse only six candidates. Now, they came out with eight.
My analysis is that Atty. Rodante Marcoleta will be in the winning column because of the voting strength of the INC.

Atty. Glen Chong has challenged and dared Comelec Chairman George Garcia to sue him after claiming that the machines secured by the poll body from South Korean technology provider MIRU will become the instruments for cheating in this election.
If this happens, will the Filipino people accept the result?
Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.
