The podcast culture is spreading
By Gonzalo Duque
I observed that Mayor Belen Fernandez and former Councilor Chito Samson have started their respective podcasts.
That’s good. The more, the merrier.
And they can make use of their podcasts as a vehicle to expound on their programs and accomplishments.
Anyways, anyone can have his or her own podcast. In fact, a lot of these have already mushroomed everywhere.
But will these be sustained? Their survival will really depend on the platform and content adopted by the podcasters.
As for our own podcast, entitled The Punching Duo, aired on Saturdays, with replay on Wednesdays, I had been informed that our invitation to Mrs. Celia Lim to be our guest has yet to be accepted.
The reason, for this Saturday at least, is Celia will be out of town.
Okay. Just inform us when she will be available.
I want to ask her handlers when she will be available.
In the meantime, Ermin Garcia Jr, my co-host in the podcast, and I will just have to continue to give our commentaries on national and local events.

The campaign for national candidates, including party-list hopefuls, had just started on February 11.
You can easily see that with the pronouncements of PBBM, the appeal of the COMELEC not to engage in the politics of mudslinging has not been heeded by no less than the President himself.
He told his supporters in Laoag City, in his home province of Ilocos Norte, that the candidates of the other party “ay napag-utusan lang na bumili ng suka ay naging kandidato na.”
What made it funny or comical was the person seemingly hurt most by his statement was Manny Paquiao, who felt being alluded to, forgetting that he was among his party mates.
And then he talked about the candidates of the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas as not having been engaged in graft and corruption. Really?
Meanwhile, in answer to the “suka” statement of PBBM, Vic Rodriguez of the PDP Laban punched back during their rally at Club Pilipino in San Juan City, and I quote: “Proud akong maging member ng Team Suka at ating nilalabanan ang Team Isinusuka”.

I understand that a high functionary of the PBBM administration was relieved of his position because allegedly the messaging of the administration candidates’ rally in Laoag City was not well received by the public.
In the social media circle, I was also informed that the rally of the PDP Laban earned 1.4 million live views against the rally of the ABP, which reportedly got only about 40,000 viewers.
This is good for the PDP Laban.
But is this an indication of what is to come this May 12 election?
I doubt. Let’s wait and see.
