The ongoing budget deliberation in the House of Representatives involving the Office of the Vice President has turned into a circus, with VP Sara Duterte facing off against 300 congressmen.

The members of the appropriations committee headed by Rep. Stella Quimbo, minus former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and two other members, were prepared to grill Sara and make her bleed for the approval of her budget.

But before they could carry out their inquisitorial power, Sara preempted them when she said that she had advanced information that her budget should be expected to pass through the eye of the needle, so to speak.

Having anticipated their move, she gave them a dose of their own medicine by refusing to answer questions thrown at her, especially on the matter of the confidential fund or intelligence fund, which is no longer included in the 2025 national budget.

There is a tradition of the committee recommending the approval of the OVP budget without any fanfare as a matter of courtesy. None of that this year.

Now comes the continuing hearing of the Quad Com on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs.

Our good friend Harry Roque has been at the receiving end of various innuendos regarding his suspicious link with Cassandra Li Ong and the Guo family.

But it appears that there is rivalry among all the POGO operators in the country.

The other big-operator based in Cavite Cove Island in Kawit reportedly wants to lord over the entire POGO industry in the Philippines.

Atty. Ferdinand Topacio showed to Quad Com a photo taken where President Marcos and First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos were with his client Cassandra Li Ong and a certain Mr. Wu, who allegedly operates the Cavite POGO hub.

The President’s special envoy to China has clarified the photo, belying any link between the First Couple and POGOs.

I think the House of Representatives should stop its hearings now baka may makuryente sa kanilang mga ginagawa.

If not handled carefully, the serving of the arrest warrant on Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Davao might go out of hand considering that the police authorities have not succeeded in their mission so far.

Slowly and gradually, Davao City folks are starting to get restless and may ignite a people power protest. 

Even in Metropolitan Manila, people are beginning to gather to protest the behavior of policemen searching for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Irrespective of the implication of the warrant of arrest issued by the Pasig Regional Trial Court and the Temporary Protection Order issued by the Davao City RTC, there is a standstill among the protagonists.

I think former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile advised Marcos to be careful of any small hint of a potential EDSA-like unrest.
