Question was about PBBM, answer was about FL Lisa

OUR class of 1976, known as the 100 Percenters of BAR ‘76, had a meeting last week.

We pride ourselves as the last batch from San Beda College that achieved that 100 percent mark that year. No batch had broken that record yet.

Among those who passed the BAR exam in 1977 from the province of Pangasinan were:

(1) Percy de Vera-Bauzon, daughter of former Judge and Assemblyman Felipe de Vera; (2) Ely Reintar, former prosecutor of Pangasinan; (3) Teodoro Manaois III, former vice mayor of Dagupan City; (4) Angel Baniqued, former provincial board member; and yours truly, a columnist of The Sunday Punch.

My classmates and I usually hold reunion every two months.

During our last reunion, I asked my classmates what they think of the administration of President Bongbong Marcos.

They said that Bongbong is very lucky because he has a wife in the person of Lisa Araneta Marcos, who is helping him run the country.

No matter what we say about the First Lady, she is the woman behind the throne, telling her husband if he is wrong and orchestrating the apparatuses of the government.

People may have negative vibes about the First Lady’s actuations, but grudgingly whether you are for Marcos or not, some of my classmates are one in saying that Lisa is a smart lady,

Anong say nyo?

However, I’m looking at her at another perspective. More on this, next issue perhaps.

My good friend Ermin Garcia Jr. met an accident when he exited at TPLEX in Urdaneta driving his pickup truck.

I called him how he was doing.

He said he was fine except for some muscular pains, but otherwise he’s okay.

The mission of shepherding The Sunday Punch I think saved him from his last trip.

Marami ka pang mission Ermin. O consumisyon?

The ongoing brouhaha in the Dagupan Sanggunian Panlungsod has been expected all along by the majority seven.

In fact, I overheard Ging Cardinoza before that the victory of Belen over Brian in the 2022 election was just a Pyrrhic Victory.  It simply means that she may have won the election but she may not be able to govern effectively.

Ermin, in his various columns, suggested that Belen should go to court and make the court resolve the impasse in the budgetary imbroglio in the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

It might be too late in the day should she file any case against the seven because of her inability to bring the matter to the court earlier.

As I’ve said before in this column, her only recourse now is to go to the people to bring her case before them in the 2025 election.

Our elections in the Philippines, as you all know, can easily be manipulated through the use of money. Money makes the world go round, as the saying goes.

Paano ang nangyari kay Mayor Alice Leal Guo ng Bamban, Tarlac? Pera  pera lang yan, parekoy!
