Wrong advice to Celia, Irene

I’VE been following up the case or cases filed by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua against the three councilors from the majority in Dagupan City. I understand that they had to file a motion for reinvestigation to reopen the case or cases after the prosecutor had already decided to file the cases against them.

I don’t know how far this new motion will go to still convince the prosecutor, Maychelle Ablog-Sergio, to reopen the cases. But as I see it, it may be too late in the day because of their failure to file their respective counter-affidavits that left the prosecutor no other recourse but to make her own findings on the basis of the complaints submitted and the evidence presented.

Maybe, the move is meant to delay the proceedings but as I see it this will end up with an appeal by them to the Secretary of Justice. Let us wait and see what happens next.

You know, I had been keenly observing the behavior of most of the members  of the majority councilors  and, to me, they underestimated the intellect and capacity of Vice Mayor Bryan Kua and made themselves believe that their treatment of him can go on forever.

Ang problem nila, hindi nila akalain na may itinatago pa lang tapang si Vice Mayor Kua, lalo na kung siya ay naiipit, napapahiya at nababastos.

Will the Vice Mayor forgive them for the insults they have thrown against his competence and integrity? Well, I think this will be settled during the next election, and surely the voters of Dagupan City will not forget how the majority party behaved in the maltreatment of the vice mayor.

As reported, the annual city budget has finally been approved just this March 19. That’s good news for every Dagupeno!

Now, we can go to the issue of the Mother and Child Hospital and other vital, issues that need to be tackled after the budget has been passed.

Well, it will be wise for the majority party and the whole Sangguniang Panlungsod to give their consent in the form of a resolution authorizing Mayor Belen Fernandez to enter into a MOA with the Department of Health to bid and construct the mother and child health care facilities to promote the health and well-being of our mothers and their kids, so they can be given continuing care.

To me, the resolution is merely a formality as the land where the hospital will stand was already donated by Mr. Kerwin Fernandez to the DOH, and as far as I am concerned, nothing can be done by former Mayor Brian Lim and his cohorts about it, except to unnecessarily hinder the said project.

What would still prevent the DOH in directly dealing with the donor of the land by now directly bidding the project?

My advice to the majority party is simple: Please do not hinder the project because the consequence in derailing the project will be far-reaching, and our people will not forget what you will be doing in the next election. Agda tan nalingwanan!

My 10-cent worth of advice to Mayor Belen Fernandez is: Go on with the project even without the authority of the Sanggunian, especially the majority party.

I believe that Celia and Irene are getting the wrong advice from their cohorts in promoting the welfare of our people in Dagupan City.

If we review what they have so far done in promoting the welfare of our people, the policy that they have adopted as members of the Sanggunian since day one of their stint has been the policy of obstructionism.

The Lim mother and children (including Brian) combination must be careful next time in making their moves. The simple policy is anything that promotes public welfare should be the first order of the day.

An example of this is the long delayed Special Recognition Incentive of P20,000 per regular employee, as well as Gratuity Pay of P5,000 per Job Order Employee.

Do you think that these employees and their families will just forget what you deprived them of when you could have readily given such benefit last Christmas?

The lame excuse of depriving the employees of what was due them was because of a pending case before the Regional Trial Court, could not feed the stomach and promote the welfare of the employees and their families.

Methinks, whoever advised them not to give such benefits should be hanged doon  sa caimito tree ng pinakamalapit na barangay
