IF a picture paints a thousand words…

Thus said a line of a popular song titled “If” by Bread that perhaps describes best a picture that made the world of Pangasinan Marites and Tolits abuzz for a week recently.

From the Facebook page of 2nd District Congressman Mark Cojuangco, this post was the center of discussion and perhaps frustration of people who have been desperately wishing the AGuiLa team (Alyansang Guico-Lambino) would have been disbanded.

Here was the caption:

Ayon sa mga bali-balita na gawa ng mga Marites at Tolits, nabuwag na raw ang TEAM AGUILA.

Ako raw (Cong. Cojuangco) at si Gov. Ramon Mon-Mon Guico III ay hindi na nag-uusap at may samaan ng loob, at tumiwalag na raw ako sa Team AGuiLa.

Wala na pong paliguy-ligoy pa, kayo na ang humusga! Sabi nga nila, a picture paints a thousand words. Kaya heto na po ang picture namin na kuha ngayong gabi Error! Filename not specified. (April 19).

Paki-share na lang sa mga Marites at Tolits, mga ka-distrito!  (End of caption)

Shown in two pictures were 1st District Rep. Arthur Celeste, former Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao (perhaps in their vital role as peacemaker and unifier, aside of course from being financial contributions in the last polls) and the main stars of the reported friends-turned future gubernatorial protagonists, Cong. Mark and Gov. Ramon Guico Jr.

Self-proclaimed political analysts wonder what happened.

Rumors swirl about the alleged discord between Guico and Cojuangco, with whispers of a fallout over the Lingayen Beach seawall issue.

Remember how important the concerted efforts of leading AGuiLa players were to defeat the then seemingly unbeatable Espinos? Cojuangco was one major force behind it, whether the group members like to admit it or not. His name alone is associated with wealth being the son of a business tycoon.

I’ve even heard talks saying that Cojuangco will fight Guico in the 2025 elections.

So, with the posting of those pictures, it looked like the build-up of excitement was suddenly doused off.

And speaking of unity, pictures were also posted on the Villasis official Facebook page saying that Congressman Monching, the governor’s dad, has announced the Unity Team for Villasis in 2025.
