Invisible you
By Virginia Jasmin Pasalo
THIS poem was composed in 2015, for a friend who did everything for her husband who didn’t realize she existed. It is a poem for women who try so hard, without realizing they could be happier with a rubber shoes.
You will miss me
there will be a time
when you will miss me
i promise you.
on a Saturday
when you find
your balls intact
not missing even
the one i used to hide
for my hole
in one
on a Sunday
when no one giggles
and clutches your butt
during homily
on a Monday
when your eggs
are soft-boiled
instead of as
you want it
hard
on a Tuesday
when you are up
and i tell you to please
shut off the light
and you would shout,
“that’s not the light,
that’s the morning sun!”
on other days
that i mega-failed
being your spouse
no matter how
i tried
to be perfect
and be as charming
as neat
and tidy
as your first wife
you will miss me
asshole
coz I took your
beloved rubber shoes
and we’re
leavin’ yah!
Tell yourself: I will buy myself some leaves, weeds, grasses and flowers. I will enjoy reading, walks in the park, conversations with strangers. I forget too often to tell you, I love you too, myself. Forgive me, if in loving someone, I have almost forgotten you.
