IMAGINATION, the capacity to create images or concepts that become palpable even in their absence, is the ally of those who wait incessantly for the situations they cherish. It is an indispensable friend, faithful to a fault, in the passage of time, where forgetting becomes inevitable.

When you are away

when you are away, and you’ve been away …

I shall sleep alone, in this celestial bed

made from a magical tree

rooted firmly on the ground

surrounded with a canopy of green leaves

dropping gently on my lips, brushing away

the taste of juices sipped to quench thirst

along the way, to continue to live,

to breathe your breath

and my fingers shall explore you,

the terrain of the craters, the mountains,

the mountain ranges, vacuums and spaces

hidden by the darkness, but inevitably exposing

the song you have not sung

for a very, very, very long time

whose melody you remember

with the howling of typhoon Ulysses

and the haunting lullaby

of anxious little birds

holding on to branches

as the wind hurls its agony

on the limb of trees

I shall remember you in the chaos

I shall see you in the chaos

in the beauty of the chaos

of this bed, rooted still

firmly, on the ground

I shall.

I shall ……
