WHERE is the scientific proof that vaccinated people can no longer be infected with the COVID-19 virus and its variants and therefore are not “spreaders” of the virus? Had there been a study by the Department of Health (DOH) comparing the “spreader” frequencies in both vaccinated and non-vaccinated people? Had there been any such initiative in the scientific community as a whole?

Before curtailing the movement of healthy unvaccinated people, following alternative health lifestyles, shouldn’t this be the first step to convince a large portion of the population who doubt the efficacy of the vaccines in their bodies? If the alternative health regimen includes walking in the parks, getting the sun that would be curtailed because he or she is unvaccinated, isn’t this tantamount to killing, as well?

Panic-driven claims of unvaccinated people as the sole spreaders of the virus discriminates a health choice and leads to ostracism and actions that may endanger the safety of the unvaccinated. Policies and regulations requiring health passes and mandatory vaccinations especially without scientific proof curtail basic freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. A declaration by the President restricting the movement of healthy unvaccinated citizens is a violation of these rights.

In Europe, thousands took to the streets in France, Italy and Greece to oppose these restrictions. Some 160,000 demonstrators in France expressed anger towards “a new bill requiring citizens to have a pass showing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test result to enter restaurants and other public areas. The legislation was passed by the lower house of parliament on Friday, but is still being debated in the Senate.” Protesters carried placards calling French President Emmanuel Macron a “tyrant.”

It is easy for governments to use the current pandemic as a reason to control citizens for other reasons than their wellbeing. The situation can be exploited to test how a population can be subdued for political and economic ends. It is aggravated by the manipulation of the media, particularly social media, where health discussions are reduced into partisan political bickering, especially as the 2022 elections will be forthcoming. It is also the reason for big pharmaceutical companies to conduct widespread testing, ensure continued use of their products, and create dependence for their medicines in countries where research on alternative interventions is underfunded and least prioritized.
