Clown-cil of leaders

By Gonzalo Duque

NANDYAN na naman sila, yong mga walang inaatupag kundi siraan nang siraan ang ating mahal na Pangulo.

They have accused and convicted her publicly of everything, as criminal, thief, corrupt, ano pa ba? Lahat na!

But where are they now? And what has happened to President Gloria?

They are in some dark enclaves, plotting and plotting how to crush the dainty little President, manufacturing lies and more lies, creating mountains out of molehills to make her like a giant devil, but what?

The President is succeeding, and watch the peso progressively catching up with the dollar.

Kung wala na sanang destabilizers, aasenso na tayo.

Now, when you ask them, “who do you want to succeed Gloria?,” they suddenly shut up like lost dogs, knowing fully well that the few who are the noisiest and most grandstanding are far worse. All of the anti-GMA rallyists want to become president, but the people do not want any of them.

Then here comes former UP president Nemenzo Prudente proposing a council of leaders for the country, but in point of fact, these are the people who want to oust the president. When I heard of it, I instinctively reacted, “what, clowncil of leaders?” Everybody laughed.

You see, I have been there in the league of firebrands who couldn’t wait for their turn to run the country. Most of my firebrand-colleagues have already landed juicy jobs in private corporations, while other are in government. But they are now securely working, unlike the restless souls, who are driven by greed and selfish ambitions like Tito “wash-been” Guingona and some Catholic bishops. Well, they had succeeded in creating the party-list clause in the constitution, but look at what a monster some partylist members have become.

These partylist solons are using their CDF (watch out, Manong JDV!) to promote their dubious and devious causes. Patay na naman ang bayan ko!

Now, they are asking for a government coalition. What? Collision of forces?

By the way, my dream girl (when I was in high school, ano ba kayo?) Susan Roces, widow of the late Fernando Poe Jr., declared in a public rally that she didn’t like the reds to join her ranks. In short, she wants communists out.

Susan is okay because she knows that the communists have a different agenda. They want to take over and control our lives.

So, what now, my dear oppositionist friends?

Let’s talk about the women. Aha! This must be an interesting topic.

March 8, Women’s Day, is to me a day to remember. It was on that day, March 8, when the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan was organized. With the birth of this club, women can now be members of the Rotary club.

Let me salute the sturdy souls, yes, the women, who have individually helped make the Uptown Rotary a successful club. Russel Coquia tops them all, but they are all outstanding, Perla Tañedo, Mariett Sorio, Edna Gonzales, Lucy Honrado, Elena Callanta, Emma Torio, Letty Cuison, Suzette Ramos, Aurora Thoman and all of them. The other names I couldn’t recall at the moment, so I must beg for their forgiveness.

They have made the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan alive and kicking.

I must say with utmost confidence, it’s the women you can trust, because of their honesty, industry, and faithfulness. You don’t need the men to succeed, but the women? But one must be careful, because they could also cause a man’s downfall, if he is not careful.

Happy Women’s Day!

By the way, there’s a deeper meaning of March 8 to me. If you can find out, you’ll have a prize from me.
