Best Wishes, Gina!
By Gonzalo Duque

WISH to greet Ms. Gina P. De Venecia on the occasion of her birthday last Feb. 15 and congratulate her on the groundbreaking ceremonies of the Haven for Women gymnasium in Alabang on the same day.
She was our crowning guest of Miss PRISAA and she came although I was able to invite her on short notice.  Talagang malaki ang nagagawa ng serbisyo sa bayan, ano? Because Gina, like her hubby, Speaker Joe de V, has been for a long time immersed in serving the people. They don’t take things for granted especially when it comes to service to others.
She has a new aura now, very radiant, which I believe she must have gotten from her other-centeredness.
Mabuhay ka Gina!  And mabuhay ka rin, Speaker Joe!
But sorry for not being able to make it at the Haven. My right hand was just operated on  due to what doctors described as an affected “carpal tunnel,” and  for a while I couldn’t use it,  otherwise I should have gone to Alabang.

There were many local faces in the Alabang event, according to my informant who said President Gloria was present describing her as ebullient, very pleased. Others present included  my brother Pingkoy, ayan, may Duque representative na, and Secretary Obet Pagdanganan, Sec. Cerge Remonde, Comissioner Al Fernandez, Mayors Jaming Libunao and Nap Sales,  Vice Mayor Jun Amador, Dir. Ernie Beltran, the famous Rosario brothers John John and  Jerry, Monette Rosario,   Councilors  Farrah Decano, Jojo Guadiz and Alex, Directors Pepe Siapno, Danny Fabia and Alex Villamil, Dr. Viven Villaflor,  Pangasinan media personalities Yolly Fuertes, Eva de Leon,  Ding Micua, Orly Navarro, Cesar Ramirez, Helen Bernardo, and many others.
Okay rin pala ang local representation. So Gina, my warmest birthday greetings and congratulations!

Recent events show President GMA rising above her difficulties while her detractors are  going down into a deep political ravine.
I told you so long before. Mahirap kalabanin si  Gloria.
Another thing. If your life goal or cause is to destroy others, you yourself would get destroyed first.  This is a law of life, like karma, that we can’t escape.
Review your own lives. Did it not occur to you that when you embark in destroying others, you get so many bad breaks instead?
That, in my view, is what is happening to GMA’s detractors.
She is again being blamed for a tragedy that is way, way beyond her hands. Mark my word, may masamang mangyayari sa mga yan.
With the New Year upon us, it would be best for us to change our crooked ways. Mahirap na ang makarma.

Rep. Conrad Estrella III told me he was impressed with the last PRISAA. He intimated a desire to host future games in Eastern Pangasinan. I told him he should start upgrading sporting facilities in his turf, and I will help do it in the near future.
Until the PRISAA, I didn’t have much deep view of the kind of person Conrad is. He is aspiring for governor? Why not? Just like Lolo Condring, ha?
But what’s this Ed Malay’s texting journalists to say that Conrad is faring low in the ratings for governor?  I don’t seem to share Ed’s survey.
My personal view is Congressman Mark Cojuangco has the makings of a very good governor. But my man is rooting for Conrad. Ang politika talaga confusing.

The fourth district politics is getting amusing.  Mayor Benjie Lim is so obsessed in unseating Speaker Joe de V who has also started visiting Pangasinan weekly.
Up to this time, I still believe the collision or clash will not materialize. Sana magkasundo na sila  Parang di tama e.

It’s up to you to interpret this.
