Seeding

IN Matthew 13: 1-23 of the Bible, Jesus relates the Parable of the Sower (a.k.a. Parable of the Soils), to a large crowd. It is about a farmer who sows seed and does so indiscriminately:

“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

The same parable is retold in Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15. Luke explains the use of parables:

 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.”

The parable pertains to the Gospel (seed) and the soil is used as an analogy for the responses of people in the “seeding” process. It draws its logic from nature, and people have since then innovated on how they can calibrate responses in a more effective and predictable way.

Depending on the gardener, the kind of seeds being sown may be good or bad. It is therefore imperative to be more discerning of the manipulation that can occur. It is no longer a secret that some gardeners are growing seeds that were developed in scientific and social laboratories, which could feed the mind with nutrients to suit the objectives of political and business interests. These seeds have the capacity to embed and replicate themselves in our consciousness and define for us, the good and the bad.

So many are acting God. Others are being treated as God and their word becomes sacred to their followers. In the process they believe they are God, and create their own words.

Growing a conscience is more challenging now than ever before, as the mind is most often a victim of manipulation by sophisticated tools developed by science and ideology to shape human consciousness. A conscience can grow, only with a love and the presence of a critical mind. It is therefore urgent to engage in growing the mind and growing the heart.

gently squeezing

caressing with words

so you can rise

and fight!
