Counsel to Obama, Espines & Brothers Baraan

AL-MENDOZA-GEN-ADMISSION

By Al S. Mendoza

LET us say someone has wronged you.

How would you react?

You have two major choices:

No. 1, fight back.

No. 2, forgive.

If you choose No. 1, that’d be un-Christian, disrespectful of the Good Book, which tells us:  “Love your enemy.”

If you are slapped, offer the other cheek for another slap, right?

Thus, fighting back is fighting love. Very unGhandi-like.

If you choose No. 2, you observe Christianity’s paramount counsel:  Forgiving is God’s foremost foundation.

Didn’t Jesus Christ, the Son of God, forgive his own killers before he breathed his last on the Cross?

Why am I into this topic, you might ask?

It’s because of Barack Obama, the American President.

When President Duterte called Obama “son of a whore,” or “son of a bitch,” whichever suits you, how did Obama react?

Obama chose No. 2:  Fight back.

Obviously showing his anger—a childish act, I must say—he canceled his meeting with Mr. Duterte.

Very undiplomatic, to say the least.

Countering Mr. Duterte’s undiplomatic temper with undiplomatic temper borders on diplomacy fit only for the lowlife.

Again, I quote the Good Book:  How many times must you forgive someone who’s done you wrong?

Not only seven times, 77 times but 777 times.

I wonder if Obama did forgive Mr. Duterte even for only seven times?

If Obama took offense at Mr. Duterte’s cussing, just normal.

But after only a little while, Obama should learn to forgive.

As a sitting president of the world’s most powerful country, was it the first time he got the SOB jab?

Well, if yes, there’s always the first time, right?

And, to his credit, albeit in notorious fashion, Digong goes to the Guinness Book of Records as the first to cuss a sitting American president.

Having said that, Obama missed his chance at gaining world-class chivalry by choosing to fight back instead of proceeding with the meeting and next embracing Digong and telling our President, “You are a sonafabitch, yes, but you are America’s best sonafabitch in the entire Southeast Asia.”

Sometimes, the best way to treat an insulter is ignore his insult and next heap praise on him.

That is forgiving at its highest form.

In the same vein, Cong. Espines, brothers Raffy & Toti Baraan should forgive Mr. Duterte outright amid the President’s allegations they are into the illegal drug trade.

If you ask me, all this hogwash was but indiscriminately fed to Digong—a ploy by politicians suddenly clinging on the coattails of the President.

These hangers-on are naturally those who lost the people’s vote, but who would seek next victory through canard and perfidy using innocent but power-laden folk.

Trust the truth, fellers, as only the Good Book could set us all free.

Indeed, there is no greater love than your love for your enemy.
