INTIMIDATED BY CCTV CAMERAS. Education supervisors in one school division in Pangasinan let out howls of protest over what the perceive acts of intimidation of their superintendent intended to sow fear in their minds.

Reason was the installation of 10 closed circuit television cameras in their building, placed in strategic areas, equipped with intercom, as well.

“Bwisit su lasi. Makapa stress. Iyalis da la kumun,” read a text of one division official.

“Maybe your boss wants to closely monitor your movements,” I said.

The source said the superintendent also banned wearing skinny pants, only slacks pants are allowed.

“Maybe your boss wants you to look dignified,” I again replied.

The source said their boss must instead focus her attention on school principals who are often absent or come to school late and leave very early.

First time yan nagawad sikami. Akin et oonyaen to kami. Manbura bura lay sangi met pakakabwisit mid sikato,” the obviously peeved teacher complained.

Well, it makes sense. Maybe she will end up doing that next.—Tita Roces

THE BOY AND THE NBI. The dismissal by the Department of Justice (DOJ) of a criminal complaint filed against Governor  Amado Espino Jr., First District Congressman Jesus Celeste and Jaime Aquino of a crime of supposedly plotting to kill Mayor Ruperto Martinez of Infanta was really  expected to be consigned to the bin.

For how can the testimony of a minor with history of drug abuse and juvenile delinquency, according to his father, stands the minutest scrutiny by the prosecutors and even by the court?

It was a puzzle how the National Bureau of Investigation gave credence to the boy’s testimony even without the benefit of a background check on the boy’s character or an expanded inquiry into his incredible claims.

The resolution of the DOJ panel only served to show how agents of the law can be deceived and outwitted even by a boy and a school dropout. – Leonardo Micua
