THE EPALS ARE BACK. Will somebody tell a couple politicians in the east to remove their flyers showing their respective photos on projects being built by the government out of the people’s money? And we are not just talking here of one or two flyers but many flyers spread over a single project.

We thought epals in public service were gone after most of them had already been exposed and condemned in the past.  After traveling to their fiefdom the past few days, we realized that people have not succeeded in driving away the epals completely. There are still holdovers who insist on their shameful practice no matter what the people think of them. – Leonardo Micua

STEALING FROM THE BOSS. Never, never give your complete trust to a personal or executive assistant, no matter how long you have been together. This, a mayor learned rather too late after the official was victimized by her own close aide.

The official discovered the treachery and robbery when she started looking for her ATM card where her salaries were deposited. It was her habit not to touch the amount as she waits until the fund is already big enough for her to buy something that is worth remembering as a fruit of her hard labor.

She discovered the treachery and robbery when she misplaced her ATM card and had been looking for it. She started to get in touch with the bank where it was issued and there, bingo, she learned of the shocking withdrawals made by her trusted someone from her ATM card.

At first, the aide vehemently denied knowing about the transactions but the mayor had gathered evidence clearly pointing to the culprit. For how can the aide hide the truth when the CCTV footage clearly showed her face? Still, the suspect denied it and reasoned out that the mayor sometimes asked her to withdraw money in her behalf.

But the mayor, ready to explode her anger, showed her records of transactions the staff made, one of them was when the official was recently in a foreign trip.

Tongue-tied and cornered about her lies, the aide eventually admitted to the crime.

The mayor is studying the possibility of suing her as the total amount of withdrawals is nearing, hold your breath, a whopping half a million peso mark.

That excludes yet the kupit made by the staff during some errands she was asked to do, like extending cash gifts from the mayor to some close allies and other payables for some transactions. Ano yan debit credit equals kupit?
