SOCIAL PROJECTS OF THE PNP—I am not against the involvement of our Philippine National Police (PNP) in various social programs and projects since these also serve the welfare of the people. It is their way of getting closer to the community, they say.
For the past weeks, several projects of the PNP were reported but alongside were the reports of unsolved killings by hit men-riding-in-tandem, robberies and, of course, there is still the presence of illegal drug trade and illegal gambling in the province. Aren’t their community projects distracting them from their main duty and responsibility?
Maybe, things were better before when the PNP didn’t have a mascot and mothers would use the policemen image to scare their little ones, when people including criminals feared policemen. The PNP should be reminded that their main duty is to preserve peace and order in the land that includes ensuring the safety and protection of the people. – Hilda Martin Austria
MANAOAG TOURIST-POLICE TRAINING. After spearheading the “Operation Smile” for people with cleft lip/palate last year, the Manaoag Police Station is again taking the lead.
Next month, the unit will send its personnel to a tourism training, an activity that I wish eventually other towns will follow.
I hope the public transport drivers, vendors, barkers, among others would also be given such training. We constantly hear complaints from tourists that they are harassed by these sectors by overcharging them for services or are downright rude. Let us remember that on top of taking pride in our popular tourist destinations, we, Pangasinenses, should be the best showcase of what Pangasinan is and what it offers. – Johanne M. Jacob
BATTLE OF THE TWO MRS. Heard this from the grapevine.
He is his father’s look-alike. At the height of the campaign for the 2013 elections, rumormongers have been spreading “chizmiz” the mayor and his wife are no longer a couple.
But the mayor and his wife succeeded in making their constituents believe there’s no truth to what they have been hearing. They managed to put up a false front they are happy couple, holding hands, appearing lovey-dovey, while in public.
He got re-elected but soon truth has to be out. The young, macho, guwapito, masculado mayor packed up his things and now lives with his “new love of my life” in another barangay but in his same area of jurisdiction.
The mayor and his new dearest one now have a child. He still visits though his original family, thanks to the social media via FB their updated family photos abound, as if to tell the whole world they are still happy together, after all.
But the issue does not end there. The other Monica of the mayor wants his marriage annulled so she would get the coveted throne.
Watch out for the battle of the two Mrs. Real!
Meanwhile, the mayor’s constituents are being “left behind” because he’s much too busy mending fences between the two– Tita Roces
