Tiger Woods needs us in his hour of need
By Al S. Mendoza
FROM winning to womanizing to wastage.
That is Tiger Woods. Right this minute.
First, he kept on winning.
Nobody knew about anything about Tiger Woods. Just winning.
Then he figured in a car accident.
A can of worms ensued. Or so it seemed.
Unmasked was his womanizing.
He admitted his infidelity. And that was it.
Suddenly, Tiger’s world of marital life crumbled.
Will he recover from it? Will his trick shots in golf do a miracle in his married life with Elin Nordegren, his blonde Swedish wife.
Did he waste all fame through his victories and wealth he had accumulated, all the bliss in marriage, with his so-called gallivanting?
In short, by taking an indefinite leave of absence in golf, what’s Tiger Woods trying to prove?
Tiger, 33, thinks he should mend his family fences first before he could play competitive golf again?
Tickle me some more.
Enough of kiddie talk, Tiger.
OK, OK, but he is mentally disturbed.
A result of him getting caught going astray.
He is in a jam right now because of 10 women he supposedly had had sexual relations with.
Another case of one woman too many, you say?
Well, one woman, five or even 10 women, it doesn’t change the picture.
You do it with a woman other than your wife, you do it with 10 women other than your wife, what now?
Same result: Screw you.
You stole a penny or a million bucks, it’s the same: You are a thief.
So, again, what’s Tiger Woods’s point?
Leaving the game indefinitely would mean his wife, Elin, won’t definitely leave him?
Tell that to Bill Lawrence, the gutsy Guantanamo gizmo.
John Daly is right: Tiger must face the public and be a man again.
Tiger first wants to patch things up before picking up the game again?
Will that do golf good?
Or will it do Tiger good?
I mean, with marriage fences mended, will Tiger be back as the same old Tiger with the same deadly growl?
I say, yes.
But it doesn’t really matter.
What matters is, Tiger Woods is ours. Not Elin’s alone.
Tiger Woods owes it to us to “resume speed.”
The marriage hump should be put behind him quick and face the world right this minute.
Reality is too glaring to ignore: Tiger is golf and golf is Tiger.
Remove one and both will suffer.
And hasn’t sports’ first ever billionaire owned up to his infidelity already?
I guess even Gabriela has forgiven him or Liza Maza doesn’t deserved to be a senator of this republic.
There’s no more reason for Tiger to mope.
He should come out of his shelter.
And the least we can do when he makes a U-Turn is open our arms, re-embrace him, and welcome him back to our fold.
He lost his way and we ought to save him. He is ours, right?
“Who isn’t a sinner in this world?” Bob Tibbets of Baguio City reminds us.
We can never ever abandon our own.
Un-Christian to the max.
But is Tiger Woods worth saving, really?
I tell you, yes, he is worth saving.
