Over 1,000 Bayambang LGU employees undergo surprise drug test
MORE than a thousand employees from all departments of the Bayambang local government unit underwent a surprise drug test on December 15, 2025, following the flag ceremony at the Balon Bayambang Events Center.
The unannounced screening was led by Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao in coordination with the Bayambang Police Station and the Rural Health Unit (RHU).
It covered personnel from across the municipal government as part of efforts to ensure a drug-free and productive workforce.
Mayor Jose-Quiambao said the activity reflects the local government’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and quality public service. She emphasized that employees are expected to maintain both physical and mental fitness while serving the public.
“We want to show our constituents that the people working in the local government are healthy, disciplined, and trustworthy,” the mayor said.
She also assured participants that the results of the drug tests will remain confidential and will only be accessed by authorized personnel and the concerned employees, in compliance with privacy laws.
The Philippine National Police–Bayambang maintained order during the activity, while RHU staff administered the tests and handled specimen collection.
Employees who tested negative will continue to serve in their respective posts, while those who may test positive will face appropriate penalties and be provided with opportunities for rehabilitation, in accordance with government policies. (Eva Visperas)
