Authorities uncover another illegal firecracker factory in the city
AUTHORITIES discovered another clandestine firecracker factory in an abandoned area of Barangay Bacayao Norte on Monday afternoon, November 24, just days after an explosion rocked nearby Barangay Tebeng and a raid yielded illegal manufacturing materials.
The find marks the second hidden facility uncovered in Bacayao Norte within a week, following an operation conducted on November 20.
Investigators, acting on a tip from a resident, immediately verified the report and launched a raid around 4:54 p.m. They recovered materials believed to be used in firecracker production, including black powder, containers, and various equipment.
The operators of the facility have yet to be identified, but authorities said a full investigation is now underway. The operation forms part of an intensified crackdown on illegal firecracker manufacturing and sales in Dagupan, a recurring problem that worsens as holiday demand rises.
Local officials urged residents to avoid engaging in the illegal production, sale, or use of firecrackers, warning of the serious risks posed by unregulated materials and unsafe manufacturing sites. They also called for community vigilance and cooperation.
No arrests have been made as of press time, but authorities vowed to pursue those behind the operation and dismantle any remaining illegal factories.
Residents are encouraged to immediately report suspicious activities to help prevent further incidents and ensure public safety. (Ahikam Pasion)
