Collision between van, dump truck leaves one dead

A crash between a van and a dump truck in the town of Sto. Tomas claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.

Based on police investigation, the dump truck driver, a 58-year-old man, was attempting to turn right with his 18-year-old passenger when the van, driven by a 45-year-old male from Santiago City, Isabela, with a 20-year-old passenger crashed into the truck’s rear.

The 20-year-old passenger in the van, who was from Catanduanes, sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The two individuals in the dump truck were unharmed.

P400K worth of suspected shabu nabbed in Urdaneta drug ops

AUTHORITIES confiscated over P400,000 worth of suspected shabu during an anti-drug operation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Urdaneta City.

Arrested in the buy-bust operation was a 35-year-old male suspect, originally from San Agustin, Trece Martires, Cavite, but currently residing in Barangay Bayaoas, Urdaneta City.

According to authorities, the suspect is actively involved in the illegal drug trade within Urdaneta City and neighboring towns in the 5th and 6th districts of Pangasinan.

Ex-tanod nabbed with P100K worth of shabu

A former barangay tanod (village watchman) was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mabanogbog, Urdaneta City after being caught with an estimated P102,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Police identified the suspect as a 53-year-old man who was the target of an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by local authorities.

2 dead, 1 injured in motorcycle crash in Malasiqui

TWO men were killed and another was injured after their motorcycle slammed into a steel gate in Barangay Taloy, Malasiqui, late at night on August 31.

According to local authorities, the victims, a 25-year-old man (the driver), a 29-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man, were all residents of Barangay Navatat, Basista.

The three were riding together on a single motorcycle when the incident occurred along a sharp curve on the Provincial Road in the area.

All three sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The 25-year-old driver and the 29-year-old passenger were declared dead on arrival. The 23-year-old survivor remains confined in the hospital.

Man dies in Tayug fire

A 69-year-old man was killed in a house fire that broke out early morning of September 2 in Barangay Poblacion, Tayug.

The blaze was reported to local police and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) around 4:00 a.m.

A 67-year-old woman, who also lived in the house, told authorities she was awakened by thick smoke and discovered it was coming from the room of the elderly victim. She immediately called for help from a 44-year-old neighbor who works as a window installer.

The fire was declared under control by 5:30 a.m., but the elderly man could no longer be saved.

Principal’s office razed

A fire broke out at the principal’s office of an elementary school in Barangay Cayungnan, Agno on Monday, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

According to reports, the Agno Police received a call about the fire at Cayungnan Elementary School and immediately coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Agno, which responded to the scene.

Firefighters were able to contain and fully extinguish the blaze by around 12:30 p.m. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Man knocked unconscious after refusing to lend motorcycle

A 28-year-old man remains unconscious after he was assaulted by a drunk acquaintance who became violent when he was refused permission to borrow a motorcycle.

The incident occurred in Barangay Mangin, Dagupan City. The victim was identified as Danilo Cerezo y Sevilla, while the suspect was named as 30-year-old Jayson Manuel Legaspi.

Authorities said the victim’s companions did not immediately report the incident to the police or the family, believing at first that the injuries were minor. Upon learning the true extent of the injuries, they alerted authorities.

Police launched a follow-up operation and successfully apprehended the suspect, who is now in custody and will be facing appropriate charges.

Young woman attacked while walking in Dagupan

 A 28-year-old man is facing charges of slight physical injury after allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old woman without provocation along Herrero Street in Dagupan City.

The suspect, identified as Wenncy Bravo Montalbo, also known by the alias “Abo,” was arrested by local police with the assistance of barangay officials following a complaint filed by the victim. According to the victim, she was just walking along the street when the suspect suddenly approached her, punched her in the head, shouted profanities, and fled the scene.

In a surprising turn of events, Montalbo reportedly showed up at the barangay hall shortly afterward and arrogantly admitted to the attack, stating it was simply a “trip” or something he did for fun.

Drunk man drowns in sea

A 49-year-old man drowned in the sea while reportedly swimming under the influence of alcohol in Barangay Dacap Sur, Bani.

The victim was identified as Gely Botolan. According to initial police investigation and accounts from witnesses, Botolan had gone to the sea for a swim—something he was known to do regularly after drinking and so no one stopped him.

When he failed to resurface, they rushed to check and found that he had already drowned. Efforts were made to rescue and revive him, but he remained unresponsive until personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
