Debt collectors robbed at gunpoint in San Carlos City

TWO debt collectors were robbed at gunpoint while on duty in San Carlos City, resulting in the loss of cash, passbooks, and important documents.

According to a report filed at the San Carlos City Police Station, the victims — a 24-year-old male from Mangatarem and his 33-year-old driver from San Carlos City — were riding a tricycle heading east when they were intercepted by three unidentified men riding two motorcycles. The suspects then allegedly pointed a gun at the victims and forcibly took a black bag containing a smartphone, several documents, 17 passbooks, and ₱12,500 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Over P400K shabu seized in sting ops in Lingayen, San Nicolas

AUTHORITIES confiscated more than P304,000 worth of shabu and arrested a high-value individual (HVI) during a successful buy-bust operation conducted in Lingayen.

The operation was spearheaded by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit, and the Lingayen Municipal Police Station.

The suspect, a 32-year-old resident of Lingayen, was caught in possession of 50 grams of suspected shabu.

In a separate operation in San Nicolas, police implemented a search warrant at the residence of a 39-year-old suspect known by the alias “Rap Rap” in Barangay Poblacion East. Officers recovered 16.1 grams of suspected shabu, worth around P109,480, contained in four separate sachets, along with other non-drug evidence.

Both suspects are now in custody and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).

Four men nabbed in Mapandan pot session

FOUR men, with ages ranging from 22 to 45, were arrested after being caught in the middle of a suspected drug session in Barangay Nilombot, Mapandan.

Confiscated from the suspects were 0.100 grams of suspected shabu, valued at approximately P680, distributed in six small sachets, along with cellphones and drug paraphernalia.

Charges are now being prepared against the four for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).

Woman dies after being hit by truck

A woman died while a man was injured in a road crash involving a truck that malfunctioned along the national highway in Dasol.

The incident occurred in Barangay Macalang, where a closed van, driven by 31-year-old Christian Fernandez Lucena, collided with a post after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Due to the force of the crash, the van veered onto the opposite side of the road, hitting 19-year-old Jomari Navas Modelo and 53-year-old Merlyn Alejos Quiton, who was waiting for a bus at the roadside.

Authorities confirmed that the driver, Christian Fernandez Lucena, tested negative for alcohol use. He is currently facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide and Damage to Property.

2 injured in Mangaldan accident 

A 62-year-old grandfather and a 28-year-old man were injured in a vehicular accident in Mangaldan town.

According to CCTV footage obtained by local authorities from Barangay Malabago, Miguel Velasquez Soriano, who was riding an electric bike, attempted to cross the road but was hit by a speeding motorcycle driven by John Paul Abalos Cardona.

Emergency responders from the Mangaldan Rural Health Unit arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a hospital for treatment.

Ex-drug surrenderer shot dead in Balungao

A 32-year-old widower, identified as Gerry Panolino, was shot dead inside his home in San Aurello 2nd, Balungao, by an unidentified gunman.

According to the police investigation, neighbors heard several gunshots around 10:00 p.m. but initially dismissed the sounds due to heavy rainfall. The situation was only discovered the following morning when Panolino’s friend, Vener Uminga, visited his home.

Reports revealed that Panolino had previously surrendered under the government’s anti-drug campaign, but in recent months, he was reportedly involved in gambling, especially during wakes, which may be tied to the murder.

The police have named a person of interest but continue to gather information and look for witnesses.

Mechanic injured in Mangaldan road mishap

A 38-year-old mechanic from San Fabian was injured after being hit by a mini truck in Barangay Gueguesangen, Mangaldan.

According to police investigations, the mechanic was attempting to cross the road to rescue a child when the truck, driven by a 50-year-old man from Binmaley, struck him.

The victim sustained multiple injuries to his body but was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

Farmer’s jewelry, electronics taken in house robbery

A farmer lost valuables, including jewelry and electronics, after thieves broke into his sister-in-law’s home in Sitio Lomboy, Guiset Norte, in San Manuel.

According to the complainant, Jesus Andres, a 56-year-old resident of the area, the robbery occurred around 2:00 a.m. Two men wearing bonnets, entered the bedroom of his sister-in-law, where she and her child, a person with disability, were asleep. The woman was awakened by the sound of the sliding window being rattled as the suspects were fleeing. She attempted to confront them but was threatened at gunpoint.

The stolen items included a laptop, four cellphones, jewelry, and the CCTV camera installed outside the house. The police are seeking leads to identify the suspects.
