THE Dagupan City police are tracing the source of the fake bomb threat at the PHINMA University of Pangasinan (UPang) on August 12, in coordination with the Regional Police CyberCrime Division and Meta, the company that owns Facebook.

P/Lt. Colonel Lawrence Keith Calub, chief of police of Dagupan, told the media the police are doing everything they can to find the person who posted the bomb threat online using the name “Jerrie Mandapat,” who is believed to be non-existent or just an assumed name.

“You don’t commit a crime and get away easily with it,” the police said.

The bomb threat stated: “I have planted multiple timed explosives throughout the Dagupan campus grounds-7 are located in the Nursing department Area, NH building CMA building, and 4 are located in the Gym.”

It further reads: “This is not a prank… If you have anyone to blame, it would be the Marcoses.”

Calub’s team immediately proceeded to the campus as he sought augmentation personnel from the police provincial office in Lingayen, as well as the cities of San Carlos and Urdaneta, and K9 units were also deployed. (Leonardo Micua)
